Sharjah Book Authority welcomed yesterday a Mexican delegation representing Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) 2020, which is hosted by Guadalajara city, to discuss the preparation mechanisms of Sharjah's events as a guest of honor of the Fair in its 34th session.

The delegation was received by Mr. Ahmed Bin Rakad Al Ameri, Chairman of the Authority, with the presence of Marisol Shulzmanot, Director of the Fair (FIL). The Authority reviewed the events that it intends to organize during the Fair period.

Al Ameri said: "The presence of Sharjah as a guest of honor in the Fair, is an exceptional event for the Arab and Emirati cultural scene, as the Emirate presents a comprehensive image of the Arab creative movement and its diverse cultural history, and reveals the roots of the Emirati identity in one of the largest and most prominent public and cultural events in Latin America in general.

Al Ameri added: "The Mexican delegation’s visit to Sharjah to discuss the schedule of its participation in the Fair has asserted Mexico’s keenness on celebrating the Arab cultural achievement and the civilization project of Sharjah led by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of Federal Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, according to his directions and visions which crowned the Emirate as a distinguished and honored guest in one of the most prominent cities of global culture. In addition, it has stressed the need to establish channels of communication and dialogue through the book with various countries and peoples around the world."
